Custom Orthotics
Benicia Wellness Center is excited to now offer Custom Orthotics made in-office, specific to your foot.
By using Formthotics™, a proprietary type of medical orthoses, our office can mold custom orthotics for you in-house, the same day as your evaluation.
Customized vs. Generic Orthotics
Many people know about the benefits of orthotics because they’ve purchased a pair of generic ones. Custom Orthotics, however, allow you to experience a wider range of benefits, both physical and practical.
Formthotics™, the custom orthoses offered at Benicia Wellness Center, are capable of molding to the specific shape of your foot and are also able to be re-sculpted as needed. This ensures that your orthotics always provide your feet with the support they need. Generic orthotics are just that: generic. There is no guarantee that they can provide proper arch and foot support at any point in time, let alone after months or years of use.
Custom Orthotics Evaluation
During your Custom Orthotics Evaluation, Dr. McConnell will perform a 6-point Assessment to understand the unique structure of your feet and gait. Then, she will explain her findings and consult with you about which Formthotics™ foam density is right for your foot and what shape of orthotic is compatible with the type of shoes you wear most often.
After that, Dr. McConnell will mold the orthoses while they are inside your shoe and have you immediately put your shoes on. She will examine your gait again and make any minute adjustments needed to best support your feet.
Dr. McConnell recommends waiting two weeks for your follow-up appointment so you can report any issues and have your custom orthotics adjusted if need be. Your orthoses can even be completely remolded as your foot adjusts, in order to receive the support it needs.
Dr. McConnell and our other practitioners know how vital correct foot support and proper gait are to maintaining correct biomechanics. Your feet support your entire body, which means any misalignments can cause other issues in various parts of your body, like the spine and even the neck. Proper foot support provides many of our patients with lasting pain relief for even the most stubborn of musculoskeletal issues.
Our office has selected Formthotics™ medical-grade orthoses for our Custom Orthotics service because of the 20 years of research dedicated to their development. They also provide unique benefits not found in generic or even other custom orthoses.
The features that set Formthotics™ apart from other orthotics are outlined below.
